Many patients reported holes/tears in their eardrums along with permanent hearing loss.
When we hear about terrorist attacks from around the world, we tend to focus on the mortality rate and the injured are often forgotten. Robert Sigel did a very interesting piece on National Public Radio about hearing loss and the Boston Bombings. He interviewed Dr. Alicia Quesnel of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary about some of the patients she saw after the blasts.
